Welcome to the Wit Film Project website! The "Wit" Film Project is an innovative medical training program using the Emmy Award-winning HBO film adaptation of "Wit" to advance education on end-of-life care. The educational materials were developed during our previous experience with the theatrical version of "Wit" at 32 medical schools in the U.S. and Canada. Our theater project received the 2002 national "Innovations in Medical Education Award" from the Society of General Internal Medicine. Several leading medical educators have recognized the value of this type of curricula, and are including the "Wit" Film Project in their medical school training opportunities. The educational activities supplementing the film give trainees unique opportunities to learn about both the technical and humanistic aspects of caring for dying patients. With generous support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, HBO, and the play's author Margaret Edson, every medical school in the U.S. can make this powerful program a permanent part of their curriculum on medical care at the end of life. On this site, you will find information about the film, the curriculum we have developed, and download guides for implementing the program. Please browse our website to find out how your medical school can become part of the "Wit" Film Project. The Wit Film Project is a Sustaining Member of the Inter-Institutional Collaborating Network On End-of-life Care (IICN) which links major organizations internationally. The Wit Film Project is supported by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. |
