Greater San Mateo Palliative Care Network

Who We Are

The Greater San Mateo Palliative Care Network Man walking on beach, with picture of spiral shells in the sky is a diverse group of professionals and volunteers working in and committed to the improvement of end-of-life care on the San Francisco Peninsula. The membership of the Network includes men and women representing local hospice and related institutions as well as a variety of non-profit organizations that serve the many end-of-life needs here. The network is sponsored by Mills-Peninsula Health Services for the benefit of the greater community.

We offer support and build community among all those involved in end-of-life care on the peninsula from South San Francisco through Palo Alto. We work toward improvement of end-of-life care by increasing public awareness through education, by identifying and filling end-of-life needs in diverse communities, and by strengthening local resources in all areas of end-of-life care.

Mission Statement

The SMPC network is an alliance of individuals and organizations located on the San Francisco Peninsula, to deliver excellence in palliative care across the spectrum of need. We celebrate the diversity of our community and pledge to deliver care focused on the values and spiritual needs of the members of our community. We welcome all who share these values.

Our vision is that patients and families may readily access all community resources needed to facilitate their healing journey. Our values include Humanitarianism, Holistic care, Diversity, Spiritual growth, and Collaboration.

Community Education

We provide panels of experts for your organization or local community group for discussion and exploration of difficult end-of-life issues. For many, simply opening up a conversation about end-of-life issues is the hardest step. We facilitate interactive discussion groups to break the ice and help people become more comfortable with these often sensitive issues. Our members have expertise in all areas of end-of-life care can are available for speaking engagements. We can also work with you to design a program tailored to your specific needs.
